Dining Room at Adore the Decor

Tables come in solid wood with pedestal, double pedestal and sled bases in round, oval and rectangular shapes. Planning a dining room
Start with the table, then size everything else around it.
- Clearance: leave at least 36 inches between the table edge and walls or furniture so chairs pull out comfortably.
- Seats: plan about 24 inches of table edge per person.
- Counter vs bar height: counter chairs suit 36-inch counters; bar chairs suit 42-inch bars. Leave 10 to 12 inches between seat and counter top.
- Rug: extend it 24 to 30 inches past each table edge.
Round and pedestal tables seat more people in less space and avoid legs at the corners. Rectangular tables suit long rooms. Mixing chair styles works if the seat heights match. A serving tray in the center of the table keeps candles and salt within reach and is easy to clear for dinner.
