3' x 5' Rugs

A 3x5 area rug is small enough for tight spots but large enough to make a real impression. This collection includes power loom, hand-carved and flatweave rugs, with oriental, medallion, floral, geometric, lodge and modern abstract patterns. Several are polypropylene with non-skid backing or stain resistant fibers, and some have fringe.

Use one inside the front door, at the kitchen sink or beside a bed. Tip: choose a rug that clears the swing of the door. Compare 2x3 rugs, runner rugs or 5x8 area rugs for other spaces.

Where a 3x5 rug works best

A 3' x 5' rug covers 15 square feet, a useful size for spots that need definition without full floor coverage.

  • Entryway: center it in front of the door, leaving room for the door to swing freely. Low pile or flatweave rugs work best here.
  • Kitchen: place it in front of the sink or range, where you stand most. Stain resistant polypropylene is easy to keep clean.
  • Bedroom: set one on each side of the bed so your feet land on something soft in the morning.
  • Bathroom or laundry: pick non-skid backing and keep it away from standing water.
  • Layering: a patterned 3x5 can sit on top of a larger neutral rug to add color.

Small rugs slide more than large ones, so a non-skid back or a rug pad matters. Turn the rug occasionally so traffic wears it evenly, and shake out or vacuum it weekly.

If you are unsure which size fits, our rug size guide compares common sizes room by room. For longer hallways, look at rug runners instead.
