2' x 8' Runner at Adore the Decor
A 2x8 runner fits most hallways, galley kitchens and the space beside a bed. This collection carries runner sizes of hand-carved and high-low textured designs, southwestern and Aztec patterns, bordered oriental and medallion styles, lodge motifs and modern geometrics, including stain-resistant low-pile options. Brown, beige, grey and multi-color patterns hide footprints in busy halls. For other lengths, see the full rug runners collection, try a 2x3 rug at the door, and add a rug pad so the runner stays flat.

How to size a hallway runner
Runners look best when they leave a frame of floor on every side. Measure the hall's width and length before ordering.
- Width: a 2 foot wide runner suits halls about 3 to 3.5 feet wide, leaving roughly 4 to 6 inches of floor on each side.
- Length: leave 6 to 12 inches of floor at each end. In a long hall, two runners with a small gap can work better than one.
- Doors: check that doors along the hall swing freely over the pile.
- Kitchens: center the runner in front of the sink and stove, where you stand most.
- Bedrooms: one runner on each side of a bed gives a soft first step without a large rug.
Runners shift more than area rugs because people walk their full length, so a non-slip pad is worth adding. Low-pile and stain-resistant styles clean quickly with a vacuum. Rotate the runner end to end every few months for even wear. Our runner rug sizing guide covers stairs and entries too.
