2' x 3' Rugs

2' x 3' rugs are small accents for the spots big rugs miss: inside the front door, at the kitchen sink, beside a bed or in front of a reading chair. Styles include plush shag, pet-friendly southwestern geometrics, Oriental borders, hand-carved textures and lodge rugs with bear and plaid motifs.

Need more coverage? Step up to 3x5 rugs, or pick a rug pad to keep a small rug flat. Tip: a 2x3 in a pattern you love is a low-risk way to test a color before buying a larger size.

Where to use a 2x3 rug

A 2' x 3' rug covers about six square feet, enough for one person to stand on comfortably. That makes it ideal for places where feet land.

  • Entryway: place it just inside the door, clear of the door swing.
  • Kitchen sink: center it on the sink, not the cabinet run.
  • Bedside: set it where your feet land when you get up, with the long side parallel to the bed.
  • Bathroom: in front of the vanity or tub.

Small rugs slide more than large ones, so use a non-slip pad on hard floors. Shake out small rugs weekly and spot-clean spills promptly. If two people will stand at a kitchen sink together, size up to a 2x4 or a short runner.

In a hallway or long galley kitchen, a 2x8 runner usually works better than a row of small rugs. For a full breakdown by room, read our rug size guide.
